It brings more significance to the history lovers as the famous poet Rabindra Nath Tagore stayed there in his seventh and the last visit to the state in 1926. The Poet stayed there in the eastern apartment of this palace, which stood mute witness to many of the great poet’s memorable creations including a number of popular songs.

There are well maintained gardens and sprawling lawns inside the palace which is the official residence of the Governor of Tripura now. The southern part of the garden has been thrown open for the public and has been named as ‘Rabindra Kanan’ to commemorate the famous bard of India.

The place is easily accessible and you can get all useful guidance from the hotel you stay in Agartala.
